Grey Whales

The migration of the grey whale is one of the most interesting phenomena in the animal world. Grey whales live in Arctic waters during the summer months where they feed continuously from June to October. By mid-October they are ready to migrate a journey of about 9,500 km. They travel at a speed of 7 km per hour covering about 145 km per day and in about 2 1/2 months they reach the warm lagoons of the Baga where they mate and give birth.
And they return to the Arctic with their offspring after eight months of ‘exile’. It is significant that they fast during their ‘exile’ and live off their blubber which is made up of fatty tissues.
